FOX NFL Sunday analyst Terry Bradshaw raised eyebrows with his comments after the Detroit Lions win over the Minnesota Vikings after comparing Jared Goff to Tom Brady.

The Lions pulled off an impressive win while being the only team to defeat the Vikings this season, with Goff leading an impressive drive down the field that allowed Jake Bates to kick the game-winning field goal to steal a win in Minnesota.

The NFC North rivals had gone back and forth throughout the game in a close-fought battle with Bradshaw telling his colleagues that he had every bit of confidence that Goff would orchestrate a drive down the field – before comparing him to the greatest quarterback of all-time.

Speaking after the game while analyzing on the FOX Sports desk, Bradshaw said: “First that came to mind actually when they got the ball back to go down and kick the winning field goal was that this kind of reminds me a little bit of our guy Tom Brady.

“You said it; someone just said, Lions are going to go down, Goff’s going to take them right down, and they’re going to score. I remember standing on the sidelines in Houston when Tom led them down there and Howie was a mess.

“And I said ‘never worry, it’s in the best hands it could possibly be in Tom Brady’. When you can trust a quarterback who has consistently brought your team from behind – in the fourth quarter, especially – that’s a rarified air right there. Jared Goff has earned a lot of respect from me.”

The comments had immediately drawn attention online, with his colleague Curt Menefee responding by stating: “Goff is playing really well, but you want to go Tom Brady? You sure?” And Brashaw responded: “Yeah, I mean yeah? Of course? Why not?”

Goff continues to rebuild his career with the Lions, finally blossoming into the quarterback that the Rams hoped he’d become when they drafted him with the first overall pick in the 2016 class. After a few frustrating seasons, the former number one pick was traded to the Lions with the Rams giving up two first-round picks, along with Goff for Matthew Stafford.

With Goff under center, the Lions are seen among the Super Bowl favorites this year, with their win over the Vikings being their most impressive so far this season.
