Fox NFL Sunday co-host Terry Bradshaw failed to mask his bemusement as Tom Brady appeared on the show in hologram form – as viewers remarked on him appearing “totally confused”.

The former New England Patriots superstar has typically been found in the booth after beginning his $375 million role as the network’s lead NFL analyst at the start of the new season. However, his involvement in the pregame show ahead of Week 7’s clashes saw him appear in a virtual guise this time around.

His brief cameo saw him introduced by Curt Menefee before his hologram appeared on screens – much to the perplexment of those gathered in the studio. Flanked by Jimmy Johnson and Michael Strahan, Bradshaw looked nonplussed by the spectacle throughout Brady’s five-minute appearance.

The bewilderment of those present was not lost on those watching at home, as one fan said: “Jimmy Johnson and Terry Bradshaw seem very confused by hologram Tom Brady,” as a second remarked: “Jimmy Johnson has no idea what to do with this Tom Brady virtual appearance.”

A third said: “Terry Bradshaw looks totally confused at virtual Tom Brady,” while another added: “Some people will look at this Tom Brady hologram technology & think pretty cool I look at it and say why are we doing this? How does this serve the audience? Everyone wants to embrace technology… but if there is no value add then why? Because tech folks with money say so?”

Commenting on the technology which had been demonstrated during this unexpected element of the show, New York Giants legend Strahan could not help but issue a witty response, saying: “The technology is very good expect for the fact Tom Brady is not bigger than me, I’ll tell you that now.”

Speaking in Week 7, Brady spoke about the role of quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the clash with the San Francisco 49ers. He said: “Mahomes knows he has a great defence.

“He’s going to take what the defence gives him and he’s going to try and make all the right plays early in the game. The when he needs it, he’ll make the plays,” the seven-time Super Bowl victor offered. “But he’s doing such a good job managing the game and that’s his evolution.

“He was putting up monster touchdown numbers but the team has changed and lost some of it’s weapons. Because of that, he’s turned into a guy that is there to perform when it matters the most. To him it doesn’t matter if he gets four touchdowns – he ultimately wants to get the win.”

Mahomes added: “That’s how I evolved as a player. “It became less about being in the MVP race and a Pro Bowler to ‘Am I good enough for my team to win today?’ That’s rarefied air because it gives you a chance to improve every single week and game.”
