Kayla Nicole, the ex-girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, recently opened up about the toll that online negativity from Taylor Swift’s fans, commonly known as “Swifties,” has had on her life. During an appearance on WNBA star Angel Reese’s Unapologetically Angel podcast, Nicole discussed how the intense scrutiny and hateful comments directed at her have affected her, especially since Kelce’s relationship with Swift became public.
Swift and Kelce have been dating for over a year, with their relationship making headlines starting in the fall of 2023.
While their romance has captivated the media and fans, it has also put an unexpected spotlight on Nicole, who has become the target of negative attention from some of Swift’s most fervent fans.
“I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and online chaos doesn’t impact me. It does, even to this day,” Nicole revealed during the podcast. “You can go to my most recent post and there will be people debating each other why I am worthless and I’ll never be a talented person, and I have no career.”

Nicole, a model and influencer, expressed her confusion about why she’s been subjected to such backlash. She suggested that Swift’s immense fame and the obsession some fans have with her personal life might play a role in the way people treat her online. “I think there’s something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people,” Nicole said. “I haven’t done anything to warrant that backlash.”
Nicole and Kelce had an on-again, off-again relationship that lasted from 2017 to 2022, and although their relationship ended long before Kelce started dating Swift, the attention surrounding their breakup has resurfaced. Kelce, already a well-known name in the football world, reached new levels of fame after his relationship with Swift was made public. The heightened interest in his personal life also renewed focus on his past relationship with Nicole.
One rumor that has been persistent in the media and on social platforms is the idea that Nicole and Kelce broke up because he was “cheap” and insisted they split expenses during their relationship. Nicole dismissed the rumor, explaining that finances were never an issue between them.
“I don’t even know why that became a thing,” she said. “That was never an issue in our relationship, but it was definitely a rumor on the internet.”
When asked about her current relationship with Kelce, Nicole suggested that while they remain on neutral terms, they aren’t in communication. “We’ve seen each other in public spaces, but I think that we’re both aware of the nature of his new situation,” she said, alluding to Kelce’s relationship with Swift. “There’s just no room for us to communicate or acknowledge each other publicly without it being spun into something crazy, so we just keep it moving.”
Nicole also noted that if she were to run into Kelce, she would likely give him nothing more than a polite head nod.
Despite the challenges she’s faced, Nicole seems to be handling the situation with grace, navigating the intense spotlight with a measured and mature perspective.
