Shohei Ohtani once again provided a jaw-dropping moment for MLB fans on Wednesday night, showcasing his extraordinary power in Game 3 of the NLCS. With the Los Angeles Dodgers leading the New York Mets 4-0 in the eighth inning, Ohtani stepped up to the plate with two runners on base and one out.
What followed was nothing short of spectacular.
Facing a 1-0 cutter from Mets pitcher Tylor Megill, Ohtani unleashed a towering shot that sent the ball soaring deep into the upper deck at Citi Field. The ball wrapped around the right-field foul pole, resulting in a monstrous three-run home run that extended the Dodgers’ lead to 7-0.
Though Statcast measured the home run at 410 feet, it felt much further, as fans watched in awe while the ball landed halfway up the upper deck. The sheer power of Ohtani’s swing brought to mind the legendary blasts of Babe Ruth, leaving many wondering if the baseball might not come down until November.
