BREAKING NEWS: Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry Finalize Divorce 5 Years Post Split.giang

Updated Dec. 23: An original version published in 2021 said Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry settled their divorce, but they had only been declared legally separated at that time. In December 2024, their divorce was officially finalized.

Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry are officially over.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the exes’ divorce was finalized on Dec. 19, 2024. This followed the Oct. 24, 2024 filing for an uncontested dissolution of marriage by Gilbert after the pair had been legally separated since October 2021.

When Gilbert, 49, and Perry, 56, filed for legal separation three years ago, they reached a custody agreement for their now 9-year-old son Rhodes Emilio, which Gilbert checked “has not changed” in the divorce filing.

They were “ordered to regularly confer and share information concerning Rhodes’ care, wellbeing, physical and mental health, education and welfare,” and share joint legal and physical custody, per documents.

Additionally, day-to-day decisions surrounding their child are “the responsibility of the party in whose home Rhodes is then residing.”

Both Gilbert and Perry waived their right to be awarded spousal support.

Gilbert and Perry began dating in 2011 and got married in 2014. They welcomed Rhodes in 2015, but The Conners actress also has two children, Levi Hawk, 20, and Sawyer Jane, 17, from her previous relationship with ex Allison Adler.

PEOPLE confirmed in December 2019 that Gilbert had filed for legal separation, citing irreconcilable differences. The former couple — whose date of separation is listed as August 2019 — had been married for nearly six years, and remained legally married while living apart.

Weeks after the divorce filing was made public, Perry told PEOPLE “everything happens for a reason.”

“All I can do is continue my journey,” the 4 Non Blondes musician said in 2020.

“I’m still on an incredible adventure with Sara. I love her. I adore her,” Perry also told Page Six last year. “We have a beautiful child together. So that journey’s not ended, it’s evolved into something else.”
