BREAKING NEWS: Report Reveals Bronny James to Split Playing Time Between Lakers and G League After Upcoming Road Trip .giang

Bronny James is set to alternate between the Los Angeles Lakers and their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, once the NBA team wraps up its current road trip on Nov. 6, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania and Dave McMenamin. The decision is part of a development strategy designed to help Bronny balance both playing time and experience within the organization.

The rookie made his professional debut during the Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves, joining his father, LeBron James, on the court. The moment was historic, marking the first father-son duo to ever play together in an NBA game. Bronny entered the game four minutes into the second quarter alongside LeBron, though his brief two-minute appearance saw him miss both shot attempts.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick shared insights into Bronny’s dual role between the Lakers and South Bay, emphasizing that this approach was part of the original plan. “The plan for Bronny to move between the Lakers and South Bay has always been the plan since day one,” Redick explained, per Joe Reedy of The Associated Press. “Rob (Pelinka) and I have talked about that. LeBron’s talked about that.”

Despite the decision to split his time between the Lakers and the G League, Bronny’s agent, Rich Paul, made it clear early on that he wouldn’t be signing a two-way contract.

The Lakers selected Bronny with the 55th pick in this year’s draft, securing him on a fully guaranteed four-year, $7.9 million contract with a team option for the final year.

The commitment demonstrates the Lakers’ confidence in Bronny’s future potential within the organization.

Bronny, who spent his college season at USC, expressed his readiness for this split role during Summer League, where he averaged 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and one assist over four appearances, shooting 35% from the field. “I’m looking forward to playing at any level, including the G League,” he stated, underscoring his commitment to making the most of every opportunity.

As he prepares for his G League transition, the Lakers’ approach with Bronny reflects a careful balance of development and game exposure, offering him both experience on the main stage and the chance to refine his skills with South Bay.
