Marsha Kearney, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, is now facing misdemeanor theft charges following allegations that she stole a package from a neighbor, Texas authorities confirmed. The incident came to light after doorbell camera footage surfaced, allegedly showing the 43-year-old North Richland Hills resident taking the package from a neighbor in her apartment building.
According to TMZ, the package reportedly contained records from singer-songwriter Chappell Roan. Kearney is scheduled to appear in court next month to address the charges.
In a statement the North Richland Hills Police Department confirmed that the alleged theft was captured on a Ring doorbell camera: “The reporting party advised that a package was removed from their porch. The reporting party advised their Ring Camera, located on their front door, captured the incident and provided it to police.”
Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Kearney, who turned herself in to law enforcement on October 15.
This isn’t the first time Kearney has faced legal trouble. Earlier in the year, she was accused of stealing household items from a man, including food, tumblers, laundry products, and socks. That case was dismissed in June after Kearney appeared in court and completed unspecified conditions, according to a court official who spoke with TMZ.

The latest alleged incident occurred just hours after the Kansas City Chiefs secured a victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on September 29. The doorbell footage, obtained by TMZ, shows a woman, believed to be Kearney, wearing a “Momma-Rice” jersey with the number 4. She is seen walking past the camera, making eye contact with the lens.
Moments later, she returns and appears to use her foot to slide a package away from the door. While she seemingly believed she was out of the camera’s view, the footage clearly captures her bending down to pick up the package before walking away with it.
While Kearney faces these legal issues, her son Rashee Rice is also dealing with challenges of his own. The Chiefs’ rookie wide receiver is currently out indefinitely after suffering a significant knee injury during that same game against the Chargers.
He has since undergone successful surgery, but his absence has left a gap in the Chiefs’ receiving corps. In response, the team recently acquired veteran receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick.
Rice’s off-field troubles have also drawn attention. In April, he was involved in a major legal incident when he fled the scene of a high-speed crash on a Dallas highway. The crash, which involved four other vehicles, resulted in serious injuries.
Two people were hospitalized, and others were treated for minor injuries at the scene. Rice was later charged with aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injuries.
The combination of Marsha Kearney’s ongoing legal battles and Rashee Rice’s own legal issues has cast a shadow over the promising young wide receiver’s NFL career.
Both mother and son now face the repercussions of their respective actions as they navigate these challenging circumstances.
