The Los Angeles Dodgers took the World Series trophy home with them in a move that added insult to injury for the New York Yankees.
On Wednesday night at the Yankees Stadium, the Dodgers came from five runs down to win 7-6 to clinch Game 5 victory and the title. Winning away from home, the Dodgers were eager to return home to the celebrations in LA having partied in the Bronx.
As cameras waited for the arrive of the victorious Dodgers stars to touchdown at Los Angeles International Airport, many were stunned to see the New England Patriots plane touchdown carrying the World Series champions on board.

The NFL team appeared to have assisted the Dodgers in returning home as they flew in a Patriots-branded plane with the Commissioner’s Trophy. The team stepped off the plane, known as AirKraft, covered in Patriots branding, holding the trophy aloft. Fans speculated that the Dodgers chartered the plane in a dig amid the Boston Red Sox’s rivalry with the Yankees and the disdain between teams from New England and New York given the sporting rivalry between their respective franchises.
However, the Patriots admitted there was a more mundane reason for the plane’s charter as they responded to NBC10 Boston’s question about the plane. The team confirmed there are actually two Patriots planes, both 767s, and they’re available for chartering through a partnership the team has with private flight provider Omni Air International.
The Patriots-branded planes are also used for humanitarian missions and it appears that when the team isn’t using the planes, they can be chartered out. It’s added that it wasn’t clear to the Patriots if the Dodgers specifically requested their plane or if it was just a coincidence.

It was also noted that the plane was previously loaned to the University of Virginia players in 2022 and was used in the delivery of millions of face masks from China to the U.S. during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
A representative for Omni Air International said the company can not share details about customers or how they select the planes. “Omni Air International is renowned for delivering industry-leading service, and the Patriots’ aircraft cabin layout offers a highly desirable air charter solution for a wide range of clients,” an Omni representative said via NECN.
Given the Patriots’ 2-6 start to the NFL season, it appears the Commissioner’s Trophy will be the only championship that AirKraft will be carrying this year barring a remarkable turnaround. Jerod Mayo’s side did end their run of defeats against the New York Jets on Sunday with a 25-22 win, but currently sitting bottom of the American Football Conference East, the Patriots have a lot of work still to do.
