Kelly and Matt Stafford decided to embrace the latest pop culture craze this Halloween by dressing up as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, despite Kelly’s earlier remarks about being “tired” of the media frenzy surrounding the superstar singer at NFL games. On Friday, Kelly shared a series of Halloween photos featuring her and Matt’s costumes, which were modeled after the outfits Swift and Kelce wore to the U.S. Open in September.
Kelly channeled Swift’s style with a chic outfit, while Matt sported Kelce’s look, complete with a faux mustache that humorously kept falling off during their photo shoot.
In the Instagram post, Kelly captioned the photos, “Six Swifties & a stubborn stache,” referring to Matt’s struggle with the mustache and the costumes worn by their four daughters, who were all dressed in various replicas of Taylor Swift’s iconic tour outfits. The family’s costumes were a playful nod to the A-list couple that has been making headlines all year.
The decision to dress as Swift and Kelce comes months after Kelly expressed her frustration over the attention the pop superstar has been receiving during NFL games.
Back in May, she openly shared her thoughts, stating that she didn’t “want to see another four months of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce coverage.” However, earlier this week, Kelly revisited her comments on her podcast, “The Morning After,” and offered more insight into where those feelings came from.

On the podcast, Kelly, wife of Super Bowl champion quarterback Matt Stafford, admitted that while she’s still “kind of tired” of all the Taylor Swift coverage during the NFL season, her feelings had more to do with her own insecurities rather than any personal dislike for the singer. In fact, she emphasized that she has no issue with Swift herself.
“I feel like there is just this… cloud hanging over with this Taylor Swift thing,” she explained to her co-host, Hank Winchester. “Now, I have never once said I didn’t like Taylor Swift—ever. But I will say I kind of got tired of the Chiefs’ coverage of it—actually the NFL’s coverage—of this budding relationship last year. And, can she do anything about that? No, she can’t.”
Kelly admitted that while she understood why the NFL leaned into the attention Swift brought to games, it ultimately bothered her that the media frenzy around Swift’s appearances seemed to overshadow the actual football being played. “It was a good business decision for the NFL,” Kelly acknowledged, but she also expressed that it felt like the focus was shifting away from the games themselves. “I think that’s what bothered me. I was a little jealous of the fact that they were getting all this attention and all of a sudden the football game was the sideshow.”
Kelly was candid about her jealousy, admitting that the nonstop coverage of Swift and Kelce’s relationship had irked her, but she realized that her reaction had more to do with her own feelings than with anything Swift had done. “So yeah, maybe I let jealousy get the best of me,” she continued, reflecting on the intense media spotlight the couple received.
As Kelly continued to reflect, she offered more clarity on why she had such strong feelings about the Swift-Kelce coverage. “I was like, ‘Why was I feeling that way?’ And it really was, I had some jealousy issues of the fact that she all of a sudden became the main show in NFL football… or their relationship,” she explained.
Despite her earlier comments, it appears Kelly has decided to take a lighthearted approach to the whole situation. Dressing up as Taylor and Travis for Halloween seemed to be her way of joining in on the fun and perhaps poking a bit of fun at her own past frustrations.
The playful family costumes were well-received, and it seems Kelly is ready to embrace the cultural phenomenon surrounding Swift and Kelce—at least for one night.
