Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker needs to adjust and “not let the ball go left” as he seeks to improve his tremendously disappointing 2024 NFL season.

Tucker had enjoyed a successful career for years before this season. He signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and has firmly established himself as one of the best and most consistent kickers in NFL history.

Tucker, who also holds the record for the longest field goal in NFL history at 66 yards, has made just 72.7 percent of his attempts this season – a career low. The 34-year-old’s previous worst mark was 82.5 percent back in 2015.

The five-time first-team All-Pro endured the lowest point of his season so far in the Ravens’ agonizing 18-16 defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tucker missed two field goals and an extra point in the Ravens’ loss to their AFC North rivals, while rival Chris Boswell made all six efforts, meaning kicking proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Both of Tucker’s field goal misses – from 47 and 50 yards – hooked wide left. On Wednesday, the veteran addressed local media and insisted he has found a solution to his woes.

“The adjustment is pretty clear,” Tucker said. “Just need to make a point to not let the ball go left.”

Tucker claimed that after changing his aim point in Pittsburgh, he made his last kick. He added: “Believe me, when I say nobody takes it more personally than I do, nobody is more affected than me when I miss the kick. At the exact same time, my particular line of work requires in my opinion that I compartmentalize my feelings.”

Tucker is widely considered one of the best kickers in NFL history, but his recent struggles have led fans to believe he may be losing his touch. He continued: “My only option is just continue to work and focus on the action, focus on the process and let the results take care of themselves after putting in the work.”

The 7-4 Ravens take on the 7-3 Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium on Monday Night Football on Nov. 25.
