Davante Adams claimed that Jordan Love was the “calmest quarterback in the league” on Tuesday, and it took just two days for the Green Bay Packers signal caller to validate his high praise.
Love led the Packers to a 30-17 win over the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, as Green Bay wrapped up a triple-header of NFL Thanksgiving games with a stunning performance. Love was 21-for-28 for 274 yards and two touchdowns as he controlled everything at Lambeau Field.
Both of Love’s touchdown passes were to wide receiver Jayden Reed, who was clinical after only making three receptions for 24 yards. Packers running back Josh Jacobs also scored on the night, and had 117 scrimmage yards as he continues to be a major threat after arriving in the offseason.
The Dolphins staged a late comeback attempt as Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa found De’Von Achane and Tyreek Hill in the end zone, but it didn’t impact the Packers or Love, who looked destined to keep hold of the lead. That composure all stems from Love, according to Adams, and the Packers quarterback is justifying his four-year, $220 million contract extension.

Adams was on the Packers when the organization drafted Love in the first round (26th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft, and they spent two seasons together before Davante secured a trade to the Las Vegas Raiders. Love started just one game in that time, as Aaron Rodgers was the starting quarterback for Green Bay.
Rodgers and Adams have since reunited at the New York Jets, and both have seen Love mature with the Packers from afar and become a major threat. Adams has always rated Love highly, but on Tuesday he explained his growth in more detail.
“Well, just how poised he is,” Adams told Kay Adams. “He’s just, he’s like the calmest quarterback in the league. Like, you don’t see him get too frustrated. You know, a guy drops a ball or a guy, like, gives up a sack or he throws a pick on himself and makes a mistake.
“You just see him just kind of real chill and, you know, cool, calm and collected, go back, look at the iPad and go out there and turn it around. And it hasn’t really seemed like they’ve been out of a lot of games. I mean, even when they’re down, you’ve seen him, you know, lead his team back.
“And, you know, even if it hasn’t been Jay Love, you know, they got a couple guys over that have been having a good year so far. So yeah, it’s good to watch him and see his growth.”
The Packers are now 9-3 and closing in on a wildcard route to the playoffs, although the NFC North title isn’t out of reach yet. The Detroit Lions are dominating the division and improved to 11-1 after beating the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving, but face the Packers next.
