YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has dropped a bombshell that he plans to challenge boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez right after his bout with Mike Tyson.

Dubbed ‘The Problem Child,’ Jake Paul is gearing up for an epic face-off with the legendary former undisputed heavyweight world champ. The much-anticipated fight is set to draw crowds on Friday, November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, where as many as 80,000 fans could witness the spectacle.

Since stepping into the ring professionally in 2020, Paul has become notorious for throwing down gauntlets to major figures in the fight game. The 27-year-old’s hit list already includes victories over Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, and Ben Askren. Sporting a pro record of 10-1, his sole loss came at the hands of Tommy Fury last year.

Meanwhile, ‘Iron Mike’, now 58, hasn’t stepped into a professional fight since his defeat by Kevin McBride in 2005. Netflix subscribers are in for a treat as they’ll be able to stream the heavyweight clash between Tyson and Paul at no extra charge, with the platform deciding against a pay-per-view model.

While Paul is zeroed in on Tyson, he’s already eyeing his next quarry. On Sean O’Malley’s podcast, the 27-year-old expressed his eagerness to square off with Canelo in the ring, saying, “I do [have a callout], it’s Canelo.

“This moment will prove that I’m the face of boxing, the largest attraction. Me vs Canelo at 200 pounds for the cruiserweight championship of the world is the biggest fight – arguably even bigger than me vs. Tyson. It makes so much sense. You know, Canelo is on his way out, he’s going to want a payday, and I want to show the world that all of the s— I’ve been talking about beating Canelo is actually ‘true’.

This isn’t the first time the brash American has thrown down the gauntlet to the super-middleweight champ. Straight after his victory over Ryan Bourland earlier this year, ‘The Problem Child’ seized the moment in the ring to challenge Canelo.

“Canelo, stop ducking. I know you want it,” he declared. “I’m repping Puerto Rico, you’re repping Mexico, so it’s Puerto Rico vs Mexico. I want Canelo. I want all the biggest names. Like I said, I’m the face of this sport. Truly, who’s doing more for boxing than me? I keep on proving myself time and time again.”

Last year, Canelo conceded that he would consider fighting Paul but not until he retires from boxing. “Yeah maybe, but not right now,” Alvarez commented on the possibility of fighting Paul.

“For me, not right now because I’m chasing other things in my career but you never know, maybe later.” When asked if a bout against Paul would happen post-retirement, he replied, “Yeah.”
