Recent viewing figures from FOX have shown that interest in Deion Sanders’ Colorado has significantly diminished this year. That is despite Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter both playing in their last year before entering the NFL Draft pool and hoping to be in the race for the Heisman Trophy.
The Buffaloes were the most-watched college football team by a significant margin in 2023 in what was Deion‘s first year as head coach of the school, having brought his son, Shedeur, along with Hunter.
Despite going just 4-8 in 2023, Colorado had been a fascinating watch each week, with Shedeur and Hunter both shining – while many had hoped to tune in to see the school lose.

Each Colorado game averaged over 7 million views in 2023, but their most recent win over Arizona had been viewed by just 2.02 million – its lowest figure since the 2022 season. Colorado’s games are averaging 3.8 million viewers this season – down almost half of its viewers from the previous season.
The game had been on FOX, who had shown numerous games this past Saturday with Colorado being the second-lowest viewed across their channels.
The future of the school’s football program is looking uncertain, with some believing Sanders will walk away after the season when his two sons, Shedeur (QB) and Shilo Sanders (S) leave for the NFL Draft, along with their do-it-all superstar Hunter (WR/CB) – with Sheduer and Travis likely to be top-10 picks.

But despite concerns growing, the school has already declared it’s intentions to have Sanders stay for the long-term. Earlier this month, The University of Colorado’s atheltic director Rick George said: “We hope Coach Prime finishes his career here. I think he can do significant things for us long-term with longevity. I think Coach would sit here and tell you that he and I are on the same page about where we want this program to go.
“It’s not a short-term fix and we want to set it up to be sustainable for the future. I think what he’s done is incredible. I like the culture he’s created. I see it on a daily basis… I like where we’re at.”
