Ex-Pittsburgh Steelers star Le’Veon Bell has received major backlash after he wore a t-shirt bearing a slogan that referred to U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris as “the Tramp.”

The retired former running back greeted Donald Trump as he touched down in Pennsylvania before watching the Steelers take on the New York Jets. The one-time NFL ace, who has since turned his hand to boxing, appeared at a rally in Latrobe as the Republican Party nominee for the White House continues his campaign trail.

He was present alongside old Pittsburgh teammate Antonio Brown at the event, with the latter having addressed the crowd. Bell since sparked controversy as an image emerged of him clad in a t-shirt that bore the words “Trump or the Tramp?” with this pro-Trump message denounced by many as “misogynistic.”

The reference to Democratic Party nominee Harris saw the 32-year-old come in for criticism on social media, with one person saying: “Only insecure, cowardly men feel the need to disparage women with slurs. You are disgusting and look like a clown,” as another said: “Why can’t you support your candidate without being disrespectful to the black woman running against him?”

A third person revealed their disapproval over the t-shirt, saying: “Labelling a highly-educated, successful Black woman as a ‘tramp’ is reprehensible. The rest of us are as embarrassed as your mom,” as a fourth added: “Misogyny is alive & well in the @NFL. I guess they are OK with this.”

Meanwhile, an equally unimpressed individual called out Bell for his antics, saying: “Damn bro… vote how you want but to call her a tramp is beyond disrespectful,” as another passed judgment on the former Steelers ace’s motivations, adding: “Such an ignorant […] post, just for attention….”

The remarks from ex-colleague Brown at the aforementioned rally at Latrobe in relation to Harris also proved controversial as he made a set of disparaging comments about the current U.S. Vice President. He also sparked a storm after referring to her running mate Tim Walz as “Tampon Tim”.

The former wide receiver made no secret of his leanings as he also turned his ire on the media during his speech. He said: “Before I get too deep in my speech, I know the media’s gonna call me crazy. Me and Trump crazy for having me speaking here. But I wanna make this clear… we are not. They are.’

The former Steelers stalwart then added: “Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, you really know they wanna put tampons in the boys’ bathroom. Is that crazy? That’s really insane, right? And by the way, tampon Tim Walz, he isn’t a real football coach. He could never guard me.”
