Cleveland Browns teammates consoled Deshaun Watson as he was carted off the field with the quarterback in tears after looking to have ruptured his Achilles.

Watson suffered a non-contact injury with his Achilles appearing to snap as he attempted to run off while completing his dropback, being in significant pain after being placed on the cart. But while numerous reports, and even actions, have suggested that teammates have grown to become angered by Watson – many did not show that after the quarterback went down.

Several offensive linemen spoke to Watson as he left the field looking devastated with the Browns now likely to be without the controversial quarterback for the rest of the season.

Numerous doctors on social media appeared to confirm that Watson had ruptured his Achilles with the Browns quickly ruling him out for the game and stating that he had indeed injured the tendon.

Intriguingly, Jameis Winston was placed on the inactive list and serve as an emergency with Dorian Thompson-Robinson coming in for Watson. Winston had lost his place as the back-up to Thompson-Robinson earlier this week with the two now likely to battle for the starting job for the rest of the season. Winston would eventually come into the game for Thompson-Robinson as he struggled in the game.

Watson was consoled by his teammates

Watson has been largely criticized throughout the season with the quarterback struggling dramatically – consistently making head-scratching decisions and turning the ball over. During Cleveland’s player introductions on Sunday, those in attendance at Huntington Bank Field greeted the 29-year-old with a chorus of boos as he trotted onto the field.

Watson signed a massive five-year, $230 million contract he signed in March of 2022 – with his contract being full guaranteed through the 2026 season.

Watson has faced over 20 different lawsuits over the past three years, being accused of sexual assault and battery. No criminal charges have been brought against him, with him already being suspended during the 2022 NFL season.
