New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave suffered a sickening injury in the first half of his team’s 23-22 road loss to the Carolina Panthers. The incident drew the ire of former Saints receiver Michael Thomas, who had plenty of criticism for quarterback Derek Carr.

Carr overthrew Olave in triple coverage, causing the star receiver to be squeezed by a pair of Panthers defenders. The 24-year-old former first-round pick would leave the game with the fourth concussion of his professional career.

Players on both teams surrounded Olave as he was stretchered off the field by the medical staff and rushed to a local hospital. He would not return to the contest.

Thomas was teammates with Olave on the Saints from 2022-2023 and Carr in 2023. He let out a slew of tweets on X bashing his former quarterback.

“Derek Carr for you I been told yall **** sad,” Thomas started from his ‘Cantguardmike’ X account. “Dude scary and panic and just throw the ball. Get him the * out of here he so ***,” he continued.

“Dude tried to lie and say I was jealous of them making Chris [Olave] WR1 [the] whole time he can’t even get him a decent ball. He need his ass whooped,” Thomas said of his former quarterback and retweeted by Josh Olave, Chris’s brother.

“They fired all them coaches trying to cover his flaws up he still doing the same s—,” Thomas continued. He then mentioned Carr’s stats with former receiver Davante Adams in 2022. “That year his buddy went 1st team all-pro in 2022 he needed 180 targets just to catch 100 passes. He is ***.”

Thomas sent up a prayer emoji in response to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapaport’s tweet confirming Olave has movement in his extremities. Olave confirmed he iw okay, tweeting “Thank God Preciate all the love & prayers ima be aight.”

Thomas proceeded to retweet a string of anti-Carr posts following the game, including one from Jason Moore reading: “Derek Carr deserves to be fined for throwing that hospital ball to Olave. He is 100% responsible for Olave being knocked out.”

Thomas won the 2019 NFL Offensive Player of the Year award in New Orleans and was a three-time First-Team All-Pro alongside Hall of Famer quarterback Drew Brees.

Olave was the Saints’ first-round pick in 2022 and posted back-to-back 1,000+ yard receiving seasons to start his career.

Carr joined New Orleans as a free agent ahead of the 2023 season. The NFL veteran played all 17 last year and threw for 3,878 yards and 25 touchdowns.
