Deion Sanders lashed out at “stupid” college football television executives as Colorado prepares for a late kickoff versus Kansas State.

For the first time since 2020, Colorado is 2-0 in league play following a dramatic overtime victory over Baylor – which was the Buffaloes’ first Big 12 matchup in 14 years. Sanders’ team followed that up with another league win at Central Florida, where they rushed for a season-best 128 yards.

Coming off a bye, Colorado is preparing to host Kansas State. However, Sanders is fuming over the scheduling of the Big 12 matchup, which kicks off at 10:15 p.m. ET on Saturday night.

“Who does that to us? Who does that?” Sanders asked during Thursday’s episode of the Colorado Football Coaches Show. “Who has the power to sit up there and say, ‘Yeah, I’m going to make them play at 8:15 (local time)?’”

When host Mark Johnson suggested it was the television networks deciding to make the contest prime time as fans want to watch, Sanders declared: “But how stupid is that? How stupid is that?

”It’s not smart for a television executive to say we’re going to put this game on at this time because you’re thinking about eyeballs. You’re thinking about selling merchandise on the commercials. You’re thinking about all that. Why would you do it at that time when half of America is asleep?”

Sanders is considered one of the best athletes in sports history after sensationally starring in both the NFL and MLB during his playing days. He was brought to Colorado to turn the Buffaloes around as the team has won double-digit games just once since 2002, and its 1-11 record in 2022 was its worst since 2012.

In his first season last year, Sanders’ Colorado slipped to a 4-8 record after a hot start. This time around, a win over North Dakota State to open the 2024 season was followed by a tough 28-10 defeat to Nebraska.

But the Buffaloes rebounded, crushing Colorado State and UCF either side of the overtime win against Baylor. As a result, Colorado sits at 4-1 and is looking to improve their league record when they host No. 18 Kansas State.

The Wildcats are also 4-1 and are preparing for a return to Folsom Field for the first time since 2010. Kansas State is also coming off a bye week.
