It won’t be long before former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has a new home in the NFL.
According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, Jones – who was granted his request to be released by the Giants last week – has “zeroed on a ‘leading’ choice” after receiving interest from a long list of suitors. As many as 10 teams reportedly reached out to the signal-caller expressing an interest in acquiring his talents, per FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, but a decision has been made by the quarterback on his preferred option.
As for which organizations might be looking to sign Jones, Anderson named the Las Vegas Raiders as a potential fit given Gardner Minshew will be out for the season after breaking his collarbone in Week 12. ESPN’s Adam Schefter, meanwhile, reported that the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings currently rank as “two of the likeliest teams to land” him – adding that the 27-year-old would like to join a playoff contending team.

Should Jones opt to sign with the 2-9 Raiders, he’d face little competition for the starting job, but would be a far cry from the postseason. As a member of the Ravens or Vikings, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft is all-but guaranteed to slot in as a backup behind Lamar Jackson or Sam Darnold, respectively.
While making an appearance on the ‘Let’s Go! Podcast,” Peter King reaffirmed Jones’ desire to play for a contender “for the rest of the year” rather than sign a multi-year contract with a struggling team more than halfway through the season. The former Sports Illustrated journalist floated the Ravens as the best fit, stating: “Adam Schefter said it and he said it absolutely right on ESPN on Sunday, that it looks like the Ravens and the Vikings are the leaders in the clubhouse.
“Now, look, I think Daniel Jones would prefer to go to the Baltimore Ravens,” King added. “He is not looking to stick it to the Giants to go play for somebody so he can show the Giants, see what you’re missing. No, he wants to go play for a winner. He wants to learn more about this game.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell had nothing but good things to say about Jones, insisting that he has “tons of respect” for the player. “I got to know him through the draft process years ago,” he said.
“I’m sure, now that he’s a free agent, there’s probably a ton of league-wide interest in him. Daniel is going to make the decision that’s best for him in his career moving forward.
“I’m sure he’s working through that process right now. But I really can’t get into too much short-term or long-term. I can just say, I’ve been a fan of Daniel’s for a long time and hope wherever his next stop takes him, it’s a good opportunity for him.”
Over 10 games this season, Jones has completed 216-of-341 passes for 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.
