After being by President-Elect Donald Trump’s side for much of the campaign, as well as being a fierce advocate of him, UFC President Dana White seems to want to get out of politics following Trump’s election win.
White has been friends with Trump since before he got into politics and Trump has often shown public support for the UFC and White himself over the years. White made frequent and often high-profile appearances on the campaign trail including the Republican National Convention, where he has appeared two times previously, as well as Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally in New York City little more than a week before the election.
“My fellow Americans, if you want what’s best for your family and this country, you’re gonna vote Donald J Trump as the 47th president of the United States,” White said at the MSG rally.

He also made an appearance following Trump’s election victory earlier this month where White was invited on stage and made some short remarks.
During a recent interview with The New Yorker White said that while he is still an ardent supporter of the president-elect and considers him a personal friend, he doesn’t share the same affection for the rest of the Republican Party.
“I’m never f***ing doing this again,’ he told The New Yorker. “I want nothing to do with this s***. It’s gross. It’s disgusting. I want nothing to do with politics.”
Despite signaling he doesn’t want anything to do with any future political campaigns, White continues to sing high praises for Trump telling The New Yorker that he is one of the toughest men he knows.
“Donald Trump is tougher and more badass than anybody,” White also told The New Yorker. “You can only pray that you’re a quarter of the man that Donald Trump was when a guy tried to take seven shots at his head with a high-powered rifle with a fucking scope on it.”

Trump has frequently been seen attending UFC fights over the years, most recently appearing at UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden cage side with Elon Musk.
White’s continued support of Trump has no doubt helped the president-elect grow support among young men, the UFC’s primary demographic. According to CNN exit polls men ages 18-29 broke for Trump at a 49% to 47% rate. That number jumped to 53-43% in favor of Trump among 30-49 year old men.
“As the UFC has grown, there’s been a lot of people that have jumped on the bandwagon and became fans,’ White said. ‘Trump was there from the beginning.”
