Dak Prescott has admitted he broke down in tears after realising the severity of his injury, as the Dallas Cowboys continue to falter in the league.
The Cowboys quarterback has had a tough season so far in the NFL, winning just three games heading into Week Nine before he suffered a partially torn hamstring during a loss to the Atlanta Falcons. While the starting QB was expected to miss several weeks initially, the Cowboys placed him on the injured reserve list and confirmed he will be out for the rest of the season.
And while his season may be over, the Cowboys are trying desperately to stop their own campaign to the play-offs from faltering off in a disappointing fashion. The NFC East team are currently 3-7, and are coming off of two blow-out games to the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles.

All Prescott can do is watch from the sideline as his Cowboys continue on a five-game losing streak going into their game against the Washington Commanders this weekend – and it is hurting him. Speaking on the Dallas Morning News, Prescott said: “The other day, after the game, I guess, it all just hit me.
“Boom, right. A couple of tears came down. This is going to hurt. It’s going to suck at times. You just have to understand this is one of the moments that it does. I don’t want anything right now other than to let it suck. It’s understanding and being able to voice that, ‘yeah, I’m blessed to be where I’m at’.”
Prescott has also provided an update to his serious hamstring injury that ended his season – claiming that even day-to-day activities had him in agony. Two of the three hamstring tendons had tore from the bone, and his third was hanging on – so basic movements that the average human makes were worsening the severity of his issues.

The 31-year-old said: “It started to lift off the bone even more. That one was doing all the work, and now it was compromised. Hell, I had a week of not even playing football, just walking and normal movement and that was tearing it.”
The Cowboys star also admitted that 2024 had been a joyous year for him personally, but an extremely tough one on the field with his team. He said: “It’s been a tough year personally with my emotions because it’s a roller coaster. It’s truly been ups and downs. I would say riding a wave I’m constantly preaching about not riding.
“Off the field, it’s been some of the most joyous times I ever could have imagined, dreamed of. Having a child, getting engaged, starting a family. But then on the football field, it’s probably been as tough of a season as I’ve ever had. I’d probably say the toughest.”
While the Cowboys continue to struggle with a host of injuries and a bleak post-season chance, Prescott will be hoping that he can get back to his ball-slinging best in the 2025 season.
