NBA fans were left confused as a football player committed to the Boise State Broncos carrying the same name as Phoenix Suns star Bol Bol.
Boise State has secured a commitment from three-star defensive end Bol Bol, who is an exchange student from Canada. The 6-foot-6, 235-pounder, is only a first-year player at Yelm High School and he announced on Saturday that he’ll be playing his future college football at Boise State.
It is the same program that Yelm High School teammate Jacob Tracy has signed up for. “He is just scratching the surface in what he can do,” Yelm coach, Jason Ronquillo, told SBLive WA in September.
Bol Bol also had an offer from the ACC basement team, the California Golden Bears. However, Bol Bol’s commitment to the Broncos left some NBA fans scratching their heads, as he carries the same name as a 24-year-old Suns star.

Bol Bol is a 7-foot-3 South Sudanese center, who entered the NBA 44th overall to the Miami Heat in 2019 before having his rights traded to the Denver Nuggets. He also played for the Orlando Magic before landing at the Suns in 2023.
“The basketball player?” one confused NBA fan said on X. “Doesn’t this dude play basketball?” another quizzed. “For those in the comments asking, this is a different guy. Who knew there was multiple Bol Bols?” a third said.
Bol Bol heading is heading to Boise State in the class of 2025 off the back of the college football team having a successful 2024 season. The Broncos are currently ranked 17th in the country with a 5-1 record in the MW division.

They have star running back Ashton Jeanty, who’s a leading Heisman candidate. Jeanty, who’ll likely declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, has averaged just shy of 10 yards per carry for 1,248 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Jeanty will go head-to-head with Colorado Buffaloes’ two-way star Travis Hunter for the Heisman, as well as other standout candidates. Hunter stated he should be declared the rightful winner of the award for playing excellently on both sides of the ball.
However, Jeanty has refused to be dragged into any war of words with the Buffaloes star. “Kudos to Travis, he’s balling for real. He’s doing some stuff we ain’t ever seen nobody do,” Jeanty admitted. “Personally, I don’t take no offense to it. He’s just speaking his opinion, everybody’s got an opinion. For me, what I’ve been doing hasn’t been done in 36, 37 years, so that’s something special. If I keep that up and break a record that’s been around for 36 years, I feel like you can’t really compete with that.”
