Stephanie White has vowed to support Caitlin Clark and help her reach her full potential with Indiana Fever.

Having been recently named the Fever’s head coach for the upcoming season, White is set to team up with WNBA’s most exciting talent in Clark next year. Since joining the team, White has not wasted any time in commending the 22-year-old’s poise under the spotlight and has promised to be a guiding force for the young athlete.

Speaking to Essentially Sports, White said: “I think all the noise around her, all the hype around her, you can’t prepare yourself for that.

“But she and her family has done a great job of navigating. I hope I can just be another resource for her.” White then added a telling 13-word statement about how she wants to help Clark’s transition into one of the WNBA’s biggest starts, saying: “Another person who can help her navigate the things that she’s going through. Because it’s not.. It can’t be easy… I can’t imagine it’s easy.

“And at the same time, her ability to keep the main thing the main thing, which is her job and basketball be in the best she can be. I think she’s done an outstanding job.”

The 47-year-old also highlighted Clark’s ability at managing her role maturely within the WNBA, adding: “I think she’s so gracious and poised in how she’s handled all. Mature beyond her years. At the end of the day, she’s a basketball player who wants to be the best basketball player that she could possibly be.

“She’s a competitor who wants to win. She’s hungry to grow and to get better, to be coached and help this franchise win.”

Clark earned the title of Rookie of the Year in her inaugural season in the WNBA, making it to the first round of the playoffs – only to be narrowly defeated 87-81 by Connecticut Sun.

Under White’s leadership for the Fever, Clark will be aiming to add a WNBA Championship trophy to her ever-expanding list of honours in the sport.
