BREAKING NEWS: Bryson DeChambeau’s strong stance on Greg Norman sends a clear message as the LIV Golf CEO faces impending replacement, highlighting the shifting dynamics in the professional golf landscape.giang

Bryson DeChambeau previously revealed he has always been a supporter of LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman, even prior to his move from the PGA Tour to the breakaway league.

DeChambeau became one of Norman’s marquee signings in LIV’s early days, with the two-time major champion making the Saudi switch in June 2022. Since then, the Modesto-born star has not looked back, having become a spearhead for the LIV setup amid its rise alongside the PGA Tour.

DeChambeau enjoyed one of the best years of his career in 2024, winning his second major championship with a dramatic victory ahead of Rory McIlroy at the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 in June.

Two months earlier, the American also impressed at the Masters, having announced himself as the 36-hole leader at Augusta National before eventually being chased down by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler over the weekend. Once a villain among golf fans, DeChambeau’s support was clear to see at Augusta.

He also had the backing of his league CEO Norman, who purchased a general admission ticket and walked the grounds of Augusta to watch his players in action. At the time DeChambeau was asked what it was like to receive the support of his boss, and he could not speak highly enough of the Australian.

“I think it shows he cares, first off,” DeChambeau said of Norman. Look, I’ve not had any poor interactions with Greg my entire career. He was with Cobra for a long time when I was with Cobra, as well, Cobra Puma, and he was always great to me and he’s been great to me through LIV. I respect him coming out here and showing support.

“I think the people can view it multiple ways. I just look at it as a sign that he cares and nothing more than that. And if people have a different perspective on that, then that’s up for them to decide. But in my opinion, it just shows that he really cares about the game in general.”

Despite bringing in the likes of DeChambeau and helping the LIV brand grow, it appears Norman’s time as the league’s CEO could well be up. According to a report from Sports Business Journal, earlier this week, LIV backers, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) are on the lookout for a new CEO to take Norman’s spot.

Whilst it is expected that the former world No. 1 will be replaced, the report claims the Aussie will be deployed into another role. The update comes with PIF continuing to negotiate with the PGA Tour over a proposed peace deal within men’s professional golf. Since LIV’s formation over two years ago, any player competing on the Saudi-funded circuit has been banned from PGA Tour competition.
