Angel Reese has stated that she is ‘disappointed in America’ after Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. election on Wednesday morning.

Trump is set to become the 47th President of the United States and the first to run non-consecutive terms since Grover Cleveland had over 100 years ago.

The 78-year-old claimed victory on Wednesday morning while watching on from the Convention Center at West Palm Beach, Florida – watching on as he won the crucial swing states of Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia. Trump has currently won 277 electoral votes – surpassing the 270 needed to claim victory.

Reese had previously met, but has not endorsed Kamala Harris nor claimed to be a Democratic voter, but she expressed her thoughts on Trump winning the election when waking up on Wednesday.

She posted on X, stating: “I’m so disappointed in America… Some of you just couldn’t selfishly put your pride aside huh??!?!?”

When previously discussing her thoughts on the election, Reese had stated: “I haven’t been able to tap a lot into the political election so, I’m not that educated right now, but I just continue to learn. Everybody go out there and vote. I commend that, and I just tell a lot of people to go out there and vote because we need it for this election.”

Many prominent figures in the NBA and WNBA had backed Harris, including LeBron James, who tweeted: “What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!”

Meanwhile the Seattle Storm announced their endorsement of a presidential candidate as a team in a rare move. In October, they declared on their X and Instagram: “Seattle has endorsed Harris for president.”

In the early hours of Wednesday, Trump claimed victory with many outlets also declaring him as the winner despite the results and votes still being counted – after being made aware that he has won the aforementioned swing states.

Speaking from his watch party Trump in south Florida, he said: “This is the greatest political movement of all time. There’s never been anything like this in this country. We’re going to help our country heal. We’ve got a country that needs help… badly… We’re going to fix our borders… We’ve made history.”
