Alvin Kamara labeled reports the star running back requested a trade as a “lie” as he committed his future to the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints appeared to be one of the top offenses through two weeks with Derek Carr piloting a juggernaut that cut through the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys. However, the NFC South franchise has since lost five in a row.
On Thursday Night Football, the Denver Broncos traveled to Mercedes-Benz Superdome and secured a dominant 33-10 victory. Kamara put up just 10 yards on seven carries as the Broncos defense stacked the box with rookie Spencer Rattler starting in place of the injured Carr.

With the Saints losing five in a row and Kamara’s contract rising to $25 million in 2025, the franchise could consider moving off the running back they selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Unless he agrees to a revised deal, the Saints will likely cut Kamara before next season begins – so a trade makes sense.
However, Kamara took to social media to declare he had not requested a trade. He also insinuated he would like to finish his career in the black-and-gold of the Saints.
“I ain request a trade.. so that’s a lie,” Kamara said. “I’m in an orange robe on the way to Knoxville..”
Following the loss to the Broncos, Kamara shared a long embrace with Denver head coach Sean Payton. The moment with his former coach sparked trade rumors, although speculation was shut down when Kamara responded to a since-deleted tweet saying he was looking for a trade: “Incorrect..”

Ultimately, Kamara hopes to extend his stay in the Big Easy. Kamara has reportedly already started negotiations with New Orleans on a potential contract extension.
Back in the offseason, Kamara departed the mandatory minicamp after talks at extending his contract stalled. However, he didn’t hold out from training camp, and there’s been no indication of frustration or a desire for relocation since the season started.
Through seven weeks of the 2024 NFL season, Kamara has turned 111 carries into 438 yards and six touchdowns. He has also added 34 receptions and 252 yards through the air, along with a score.
Kamara and the 2-5 Saints are next in action against the 3-2 Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Oct. 27.
