Exciting news for fans of The Office! The upcoming Peacock mockumentary spinoff is adding even more talent to its cast. Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Tim Key, and Eric Rahill have officially joined the series, as announced by the streamer on October 10.
Not only will these actors take on on-screen roles, but Rahill, Ikumelo, and Edelman will also contribute as writers, following in the footsteps of original series stars BJ Novak (Ryan), Mindy Kaling (Kelly), and Paul Lieberstein (Toby). This promises to bring a fresh yet familiar creative flair to the beloved franchise!
In May, Peacock officially announced an exciting spinoff of the beloved series The Office, with Greg Daniels, who adapted the British version, and Michael Koman at the helm. The leads for the new show are Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore, with Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, and Ramona Young also joining the cast.
While fans were thrilled about the revival, Steve Carell, who played Michael Scott in the original series, confirmed he wouldn’t be part of the project. He told The Hollywood Reporter, “I will be watching but I will not be showing up. It’s just a new thing and there’s really no reason for my character to show up in something like that. But I’m excited about it; it sounds like a great conceit. I love the idea — I guess it’s set in a failing newspaper company.”
John Krasinski, known for his role as Jim Halpert, also weighed in on the spinoff during a conversation with PEOPLE. He stated that while he has no plans to reprise his role, he’s optimistic about the project. “I know nothing about it other than I think it’s taking place in a newspaper, a local newspaper and that Domhnall Gleeson, who I am working with right now, is the sweetest, most talented guy. He’s going to crush… whatever it is,” he shared. He also hinted at his loyalty to Greg Daniels, saying, “They haven’t asked [for him to return], but the truth is I’d do anything Greg Daniels asked me to do.”
With such a talented cast and creative team, this new spinoff is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the Office legacy!
