This world can often be a nasty place, and the best proof of that is the many abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs that are left to fend for themselves on the street.
Although humans should be the ones to take care of these helpless furry beings and love them unlimitedly, many of them do just the opposite. It is this fact that breaks the hearts of all true dog lovers, and also of all other people who believe in humanity.
However, just like a bright light at the end of the tunnel, in the most difficult moments, people with big hearts appear and give us all hope for a better tomorrow.
This is exactly what happened one day when a good soul found a dog with a huge belly wandering the streets in despair.
Although many passers-by did not even want to look at the dog, this man did not think twice and immediately decided to help.
Awful Condition
When he first saw the Golden Retriever with an abnormally big belly, this man thought it was a sign of late pregnancy. However, when he took a closer look, he realized it was something completely different – a sign of some nasty health issue.
This man was heartbroken because of that fact, but it only motivated him to do everything to help this poor creature. He decided to follow him to the place where he lived, and when they came there, Goldie finally cheered up at least a bit as he realized that the stranger meant no harm.
When this man saw the tiny legs and huge belly, i.e., the sight of the terrible condition this dog was in, he was devastated but also very angry at the heartless owner who did this.
He went into action immediately and easily managed to bring this good boy to the car. The dog was finally safe and on his way to the hospital, where the doctors would do everything to help him recover.
When they came there, Goldie was still in great pain. After the examination provided by the vets, he was diagnosed with ascites, and the prognosis was not optimistic at first.
The doctor immediately arranged for intravenous treatment, but due to high abdominal pressure, direct fluid removal wasn’t possible. To make matters worse, the vets also found out that he was severely anemic.
Everything was against this poor fellow, but these great people were determined to save him and provide him with a brighter future. They immediately started giving him diuretics, as well as blood supplements and various nutrients.
It soon turned out that it was a great decision because his condition slowly started to improve. The vets were very happy when they realized that he was recovering, but the same couldn’t be said for the man who saved him.
No, he wasn’t happy… he was over the moon!
Getting Better Every Day
Soon, tears disappeared from this dog’s face as he realized that his life had been saved. What made him even happier was that he was finally surrounded by people who showered him with love.
His savior visited him in the hospital every day and enjoyed seeing him getting better. This man decided to name him Shiwu, and it was the dog’s new beginning.
In the meantime, Shiwu got used to hospital life and would happily wag his tail every time the nurses would relieve him from his crate and give him something to eat.
However, Shiwu was truly over the moon when he saw his savior at the hospital’s door. Every day of his stay, this man came to take him for a walk and to pet him. Those were his happiest moments, but the best was yet to come.
On the eighth day of his recovery in the hospital, Shiwu lost 11 pounds because a lot of fluid came out of his belly. It was a sign that he was well on his way to complete recovery, so the vets decided to discharge him.
Of course, his savior had no other choice but to take Shiwu with him and give him a forever home. It was a moment of absolute happiness and joy in the life of this dog.
After everything he’d been through, this good boy totally deserved it.
Enjoying His New Life
As soon as Shiwu came to his new home, a big smile appeared on his face. This dog knew that he was finally where he belonged, and that made him extremely happy.
Although his belly hasn’t fully shrunk yet, that didn’t stop him from living life to the fullest, and his new daddy helped him with that. He bought him the best and most nutritious food, petted him whenever he had time, and made sure to take him for a walk every day.
Shiwu was truly enjoying his new life, but he would definitely enter the gates of heaven a month later. That day, this dog finally woke up without the burden that had been weighing him down for so long – his belly was finally back to normal.
Shiwu lost 20 pounds, and he finally looked like a normal dog. He no longer panted when climbing stairs, and his belly could even fit into new clothes. From his clumsy appearance to now being a lively and energetic canine, Shiwu made a remarkable transformation.
It was his new birthday!
Shiwus’s rebirth is a testament to human kindness, and it highlights the importance of valuing and caring for all weak lives. We hope that in the future, Shiwu will continue to live happily, sharing every joyful moment with his favorite person.
These two kind beings deserved nothing less.
