Digital media mogul Dave Portnoy continues to tear into the New York Jets after key quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his embattled franchise suffered another hit Sunday, losing to the New England Patriots by a 22-25 score at Gillette Stadium in Boston, Mass.
Defeat marks five losses in a row for the Jets, who have not tasted victory since a 24-3 rout over the Pats more than a month ago September 19. Back then, Rodgers passed 281 yards with two touchdowns, and though he posted similar numbers on October 27 passing 233 yards with two touchdowns the key quarterback was powerless to prevent fourth-quarter drama that saw the momentum shift toward the Patriots for a near buzzer-beating touchdown to steal the game.
A renowned Patriot, Portnoy was bemused that his embattled side overcame the Jets despite losing Drake Maye at QB in the opening period after a helmet-to-helmet hit from Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood. He left the field with a concussion.

“Maye hurt,” Portnoy said on X, formerly Twitter. “Patriots beat the Jets. Bad day. God damn the Jets franchise is a joke. Can’t even lose to ’em when we are tanking.”
Patriots and Jets are tied third and fourth, respectively, in the AFC East, with the Buffalo Bills turning into runaway leaders thanks to six wins, two losses, and a .750% winning percentage.
Worryingly for Rodgers and the Jets, it wasn’t just Pats fan Portnoy who lobbed criticism at the franchise and is merely a small part of an ongoing franchise that suggests bad form is not the only contributing factor to the hiccup that Green Gang is going through.
Chris Broussard, the Fox Sports co-host of First Things First, said Monday: “I’m going to say I don’t think I’ve ever said or felt like saying on this show they’re a talented team, but here’s the deal. The reason they are bad, I hate to say it, is Aaron Rodgers. [He’s] sucked the life out of this franchise. By them giving him all the responsibilities, he has sucked the life out of this franchise.
“He’s never been a good leader, but a phenomenal talent and quarterback so that overrode his lack of leadership,” Broussard said. “But now he’s not a good quarterback anymore.”
Boussard then brought a Jets towel onto set and said: “You washed. Dry yourself off with this towel he’s not special anymore.”
