According to ESPN analyst Damien Woody, the seasons of two prominent NFL teams both entering the season with Super Bowl expectations — the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets – are past the point of life support.
Woody torched both franchises after suffering high-profile defeats to fierce rivals. The Jets fell to 2-6 following a humiliating 25-22 loss to the lowly New England Patriots, and the 3-4 Cowboys made a 30-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers look respectable with two late touchdowns.
Woody was a two-time Super Bowl Champion during a 13-year career and spent three seasons with the Jets. He was particularly definitive on Monday’s taping of “Get Up” about Rodgers and the Jets.
The Aaron Rodgers era is over, he admitted. Its officially over with the New York Jets. This team is worse this year than Zach Wilson last year was playing the quarterback position.
“Theyre just a roster, theyre not a teamtheyre a bunch of hired mercenaries out there that have popular names on the back of their jerseys, but they dont play as a team,” Woody continued.
“And its about time for everyone over at One Jets Drive to understand that its time to blow this thing up. Be real with where you are as an organization.
Rodgers completed 17 of his 28 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns in the defeat. He led a go-ahead touchdown drive ending in a Braelon Allen touchdown with 2:57 left on the clock only for his defense to subsequently relinquish the lead.

Woody reserved plenty of criticism for the Cowboys’ porous run defense and quarterback Dak Prescott, fresh off a contract extension paying him $60 million annually.
