Rescuing dogs is far from easy. Even when you have all the necessary resources, some missions turn out to be much more complicated than they seem.
One day, a woman was on her way to save dogs in need when she stumbled upon a moving rock by the roadside. The sight immediately caught her attention, as she knew it could be another furry friend in need.
She stopped in her tracks and took a closer look, only to discover what was a truly heartbreaking surprise a few moments later.
He Was Not More Than Skin And Bones
Eliane, the founder of Street Paws, was shocked to the core when she realized that the gray rock on the side of the road was actually moving. She immediately knew something was wrong, so she decided to take a better look.
As she came a little closer, Eli uncovered its true identity – it was a teeny-tiny, bald dog. He looked so skittish and fragile, begging for help with his sad eyes.
“This beautiful boy was staggering along a very busy street where he tried to find a little something to eat. He was not more than skin and bones, hairless and covered in sores and open wounds,” SP wrote in an Instagram post.
The pup was in really bad shape. He didn’t have a single hair on his body, and on top of that, he was extremely emaciated.
Eli and her fellow rescuers immediately sprang into life-saving action, fully aware that the dog wouldn’t last much longer without help.
They gently scooped him up and took him to a foster home. At the time, Eli didn’t have a facility, so she was forced to part ways with the dog, later named Theo, for a while.
However, being in foster care turned out to be the perfect solution!
In just a few short weeks, Theo transformed into a brand-new dog. With timely treatment, proper care, and some TLC, he grew a new coat and became the heart and soul of his foster home!
“He is a true family dog and likes to be around people. His personality can be best described as sweet, affectionate, loving and loyal. He is well socialized around other dogs of all sizes,” they rescue added.
Eli and the team couldn’t be more grateful for Theo’s transformation.
With each new day, he woke up a little stronger until finally, he fully recovered!
A Perfect Ending To A Perfect Journey
Theo’s incredible life journey didn’t go unnoticed.
His transformation warmed the hearts of thousands of people all over the world, including his new family! This tiny boi was soon visited by the hoomans he had waited for so long, and even though it was their very first encounter – the bond was immediate.
In the summer of 2024, Street Paws released an amazing update post showcasing Theo’s journey to a forever home.
Once a stray dog roaming the streets and living in dirty corners, he now has a whole family and a home just for himself!
His all-time favorite activities are hanging out with his furry siblings and having the best walkies with his new hooman sister.
This Dachie mix finally found his safe haven under the sky, and he couldn’t be happier!
