Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly preparing to move their family out of their Windsor home before the year ends and into a new property, their ‘forever’ home
Prince William and Kate Middleton may soon upgrade their four-bedroom Windsor home for a larger home in a stunning English park.
A family insider has claimed the couple plans to up and move their household to a new eight-bedroom home in Windsor Great Park before the end of the year. The home is currently undergoing building work before the royals leave their current Adelaide Cottage address. It is rumored the family consider the estate their “forever” home.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, with their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, are allegedly planning to settle into the larger home for a “fresh start.”
The Sun reports that planning documents show minor construction has already started at the Grade-II listed lodge, with upgrades allegedly being funded by the couple out of their own pocket. The family have reportedly opted to stay in Windsor where they first moved in 2022.
“This is a move for the long-term. They see it as their forever home,” the insider revealed. A family source allegedly informed the publication, “Windsor has become their home. However, over the last few years while they have lived at Adelaide Cottage, there have been some really difficult times.”
“Moving gives them an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind,” the source said.
The family’s move from London was reportedly to be closer to the late queen, who died just weeks afterward, and to offer a more ordinary lifestyle with greater privacy for the children.
At present, the family doesn’t have any live-in staff at their home and this is anticipated to continue once they move into their bigger residence.
The home is situated in Windsor Great Park, in the Windsor Estate. It covers approximately 6,400 hectares (15,800 acres) and stretched around 10 miles from Windsor Castle to Camberley.
As well as being a Site of Special Scientific Interest, the land holds around 1,000 years of English history. William the Conqueror hunted across the grounds hundreds of years before Queen Victoria herself held court there.
Farms and vineyards are also situated within the park, with both residential and commercial lettings. There is even a small village right at the heart of the park. Originally built for the royal workers in 1850, it began as a handful of homes around the Prince Consort’s workshop, which includes stables, a mill and carpentry and joinery shops.
