Deshaun Watson’s NFL career could now be in doubt after tearing his Achilles once again while rehabbing the same injury he sustained this past season.
It is unclear how Watson suffered a reoccurrence of the injury, with him seen enjoying his offseason with his girlfriend Jilly Anais in Florida last week.
Watson had to undergo a second surgery on the same Achilles that he tore this past season, a procedure that means he is likely to miss the entire 2025 season.

The 29-year-old tore his Achilles in October as he attempted to run off while completing his dropback on a play against the Cincinnati Bengals. The quarterback was ruled out with a season-ending injury and told to rehabilitate to try and make it back for the start of the 2025 season, with him remaining under contract with the Cleveland Browns and being the likely option to be their starter.
The re-rupture now likely ends those plans. The former Texans signal-caller could now face an uncertain future, with his career seemingly in jeopardy.

The Browns have released a statement which read: “Yesterday, Deshaun Watson underwent a second surgery to repair his right Achilles tendon rupture. Earlier this week, when Watson reported to CrossCountry Mortgage Campus for his exit physical as part of the Browns’ season-ending process, he complained of discomfort after rolling his ankle in Miami. MRI results demonstrated a re-rupture to his Achilles tendon.”
The statement continued: “Watson’s recovery time and return to play status is uncertain, and he will likely miss significant time during the 2025 season.”
Watson signed a massive five-year, $230 million contract he signed in March of 2022 – with his contract being full guaranteed through the 2026 season.
He has faced over 20 different lawsuits over the past three years, being accused of sexual assault and battery. No criminal charges have been brought against him.
