Former LSU star receiver Kyren Lacy is wanted by police on homicide charges following a crash that killed a former Marine.
According to Louisiana State Police, Lacy is wanted on charges of negligent homicide and felony hit-and-run following a traffic crash that killed an ex-Marine and injured two others. Lacy is also wanted on a charge of recklessly operating a vehicle.
The crash occurred on December 17, 2024, and the 24-year-old declared for the 2025 NFL Draft just two days later. Having issued an arrest warrant, Louisiana State Police confirmed to local media they are “in communication with Lacy and his legal representation to turn himself in.”

Lacy was reportedly driving a 2023 Dodge Charger south on LA Highway 20 when he “recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone.” Investigators allege the college football star sped from the scene and failed to report his involvement to authorities.
Lacy also allegedly fled without stopping to offer aid or call emergency services. In taking evasive action to avoid a collision, a pickup truck crashed into a Kia which left a passenger critically injured. Herman Hall, a 78-year-old former Marine, was transported to a hospital after the crash where he later died.
On Friday, Lacy’s representation, Rocky Arceneaux, released a statement which read: “We are aware of the allegations that have been made regarding Kyren Lacy, and we want to take this opportunity to address them. First and foremost, Kyren is fully cooperating with the authorities. We strongly believe that the facts will ultimately demonstrate the truth, but we respect the need for a full and thorough investigation.

“We recognize the concern and questions that may arise from these recent allegations. To anyone impacted, directly or indirectly, we want to assure that this matter is being taken very seriously, and we are committed to resolving it responsibly.
“IOut of respect for the investigation and everyone involved, we will not be making further comments at this time.”
There were two others involved in the crash who suffered injuries but survived. Louisiana State Police said official detectives and troopers allege that Lacy was driving the Dodge Charger at the time and allegedly caused the devastating crash.
In the 2024 season where LSU went 8-4 before winning the Texas Bowl against Baylor, Lacy led the Tigers in receiving touchdowns (9) and was second on the team in catches (58) and receiving yards (866). Across his five-year collegiate career at the University of Louisiana and LSU, he caught 162 passes for 2,360 yards and tallied 26 touchdowns.
