Angel Reese wants to see Kahleah Copper back in Chicago Sky colors after issuing a three-word statement at her Unrivaled media availability.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a stellar opening WNBA season, earning an All-Star spot after being drafted seventh overall during the 2024 draft. But before she returns to the court for the Sky in May later this year, Reese will be playing in the new Unrivaled Women’s Basketball League.

The 3v3 league, founded in 2023, is set to kick-off its debut season later this month, with Reese starring for Rose BC alongside Chelsea Gray, Brittney Sykes, Lexie Hull, Azura Stevens and Copper. And it seems that if Reese had her way, she and Copper would be playing again together when the 2025 WNBA season gets underway in the Spring.

During her media availability, Reese said: “Get Kah back!”, referencing Copper who played for Chicago from 2017 to 2023, a year before they drafted the former out of LSU. Annie Costabile, who covers the WNBA for the Chicago Sun-Times, wrote on X: “Angel Reese has been active in her efforts to get FAs to Chicago. “Get Kah back! Get Kah back!” Was her chant sitting alongside Copper during Unrivaled media availability.”

The Sky star also took her recruiting pitch to X as well, writing in response to a post from Copper: “grandma you can always come…nvm we got 10 weeks to chat.” However, it looked as though Copper, currently playing for the Phoenix Mercury, shut down talks of a Chicago reunion, telling her Rose BC teammate to go for a timeout. She replied: “Go to timeout nowwwwww.”

Reese and Copper will both earn a minimum of $100,000 for appearing in Unrivaled, which is more than the former earned during the first year of her rookie contract. And joining Rose BC means, that even despite her popularity, Reese won’t have to go overseas during January to March prior to the ramp up before the 2025 WNBA season. Reese said: Being able to be in Miami from January to March, not having to go overseas

“Nobody wants to go overseas. A lot of us never wanna have to go overseas, but some people do have to go overseas, unfortunately, so being able to make six figures within three months, being able to be housed in Miami, just being able to get better.”

She added: “Being able to know two great players that are starting something, I think it’s amazing. 3-on-3 is something that I love to do. I haven’t been able to play competitively, but I think I can work on some of my individual skills because 3-on-3 exposes everything. So I’m excited for it.”
