New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was unable to appear on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ as he “has no power” amid the Pacific Palisades Fire sweeping California.
Firefighters are battling to control a rapid-moving brush fire fueled by strong Santa Anna winds from northwest Los Angeles. The concerning natural disaster has forced residents in the area to evacuate for their own safety, with the Pacific Palisades fire first reported on Tuesday morning.
The fires, which were first reported on Tuesday morning, have grown to at least 2,921 acres with zero containment. More than 1,000 structures have been damaged, and two people have died, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department chief Anthony Marrone, while over 10,300 homes were threatened as California Governor Gavin Newsom declaring a state of emergency.

According to PowerOutageUS, nearly 400,000 customers are without power in the region. One customer is seemingly Rodgers, who was unable to appear in his standard slot on Pat McAfee’s ESPN show.
“The person that was potentially going to join us is in Southern California right now battling through insane fires with no power,” McAfee said. He later added: “Aaron was supposed to come on today. He has no power. He’s in the middle of it. He said he has friends and neighbors that have lost everything from these fires. Gone just in a matter of one day worth of fires taking place out of nowhere.”
Rodgers’ appearance on the show was anticipated amid rumors over his future, with some speculating the four-time MVP could retire from the NFL following the end of a dismal 2024 season for his Jets. But the fires have ensured the 41-year-old was unable to show his face.

The fires have affected many in the region and could disrupt multiple sports. Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick spoke out advising people to stay safe, confirming his family had been forced to evacuate: “I just want to acknowledge and send thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Palisades right now. That’s where I live.
“Our family, my wife’s family, my wife’s twin sister, they’ve evacuated. I know a lot of people are freaking out right now, including my family. From the sound of things, with the winds coming [Tuesday night], I know a lot of people are scared. So I just want to acknowledge that. Thoughts and prayers for sure, and hope everybody stays safe.”
However, the area is still set to host a high-profile NFL playoff game on Monday night as the Rams host the Minnesota Vikings. The Rams’ SoFi Stadium is located in Inglewood, and the NFL will monitor the fire over the coming days before making any decision about the game.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement: “The NFL continues to closely monitor developments and will remain in contact with both clubs and the NFLPA.”
