Travis Hunter could be a successful two-way player in the NFL – if Hall of Famer Marcus Allen is to be believed.

Hunter took the college football world by storm, starring as both a wide receiver and a cornerback for Colorado, often making dazzling plays on both ends of the field. In 2024, Hunter notched 96 receptions for 1,258 yards to go along with his 15 touchdowns.

On defense, the star had four interceptions this season, a career-high for Hunter. Because of his ability to play offense and defense, Hunter was awarded the Heisman Trophy, beating out Ashton Jeanty and Dillon Gabriel handily, receiving 552 first-place votes.

With the Buffaloes and Hunter’s season over, all that remains is who will draft the 21-year-old and if he can continue his dominance at the next level. However, Allen believes Hunter is capable of doing so while also sharing who he believes should draft the star.

“If you would draft him, you’d get two players, you really do,” Allen told TMZ in a recent interview. “So that would be the wise thing to do.” When asked who he believes should take a shot on the two-way star, Allen played coy before making his suggestion.

“Oh, I don’t have the slightest idea, man, nobody can answer that,” he continued before emphatically adding: “The Raiders!”

The former Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl MVP also praised Hunter’s impressive season and his Heisman win, claiming that the 21-year-old’s crowning already was foreseen by those who know the game intimately like Allen does.

“Very deserving,” the 64-year-old former Los Angeles Raiders star said. “He’s a great, great player. Plays two ways. I mean, it’s was a forgone conclusion. He should have won the award, so I’m happy for him. I’m looking forward to seeing him in the next level.”

Considering how the season panned out for Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, the son of Deion Sanders, it remains to be seen which of the two will be drafted first overall by the Tennessee Titans. Heading into the final game of the 2024 NFL season, the Titans, New England Patriots, and Cleveland Browns were all vying for the No. 1 pick in the 2025 draft.

The Browns lost to the Baltimore Ravens to secure a top-three pick (No. 2) while the Patriots inexplicably defeated the Buffalo Bills, pushing them out of the top three. As such, the Titans were awarded the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft, with the New York Giants getting the third pick.

Each team in the top-three need a quarterback, so it could stand to reason that Sanders could be selected before Hunter. However, teams could take a chance on Hunter’s two way ability as both a wideout and cornerback to bolster its odds for the upcoming season that way.

For Allen’s prediction to come true, Hunter will have to drop six spots for the Raiders to have a chance at drafting the star.
