Breece Hall called on Aaron Rodgers to return to the New York Jets in 2025 as the four-time MVP weighs up his future in the NFL.

On Sunday at MetLife Stadium, the Jets ended their horrendous 2024 season on a high with a 32-20 win over the Miami Dolphins in an AFC East showdown. Rodgers completed 23-of-36 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns, which represented a fine turnaround after the four-time MVP tossed an interception on his first throw of the game.

During the Week 18 contest, Rodgers threw his 500th career touchdown pass when he found tight end Tyler Conklin in the end zone. The 41-year-old decided to keep that milestone ball, but he also motioned to keep the ball of his final touchdown throw – a six-yard dart to Hall – which came as a surprise.

Rodgers collected the ball from Hall, taking it to the sideline and handing it to a staffer to be kept. The move appeared to suggest the former Green Bay Packers star could retire from the sport or leave the Jets, which is why he wanted to keep the ball used in his final NFL touchdown as a memento.

After the game, Rodgers was noncommittal over his future amid growing speculation. Jets icon Joe Namath took to social media to have his say, and Hall reposted the view to suggest he is in agreement with the Pro Football Hall of Famer.

“After watching @AaronRodgers12 play today, there’s no doubt he’s got at least another year in him,” Namath wrote. “So if he WANTS to, I’d love to see him stay with the Jets. He could definitely help the new GM and coach, as well as play ball. He’s still throwing with accuracy and authority.”

It’s clear that Hall wants to run it back with Rodgers, even after the Jets finished 5-12 – a far cry from what the franchise had hoped to achieve. But the quarterback showed flashes of his best against the Dolphins, which may be why Hall doesn’t want to move on just yet.

Ultimately, Rodgers isn’t sure what the future holds, whether that is retirement, returning to the Jets, or – perhaps more likely – playing for another team in the 2025 NFL season. After the win, Rodgers told FOX Sports: “I’m gonna get home and relax. But I’m not going to hold anyone up. I’ll have conversations tomorrow with the Jets to see what they’re thinking, and then we will make a decision before it gets too late in the offseason.”

He then outlined his options to reporters, saying: “If they want me to be a part of the next phase or if they’re ready to move on, either way, I’m thankful for my two years here… I won’t be upset or offended whatever they decide to do. If they want to move on, if I still want to play. And if not, I’ll let them know at some point, if that’s the case.”

Rodgers admitted he’d be open to joining another team next season, and added: “I know I can still play. I know I can still do the things I need to do to be successful. It just comes down to the desire on their side. And then ultimately, my desire to play… I have to take some time – mentally and physically – to rest and relax.”

Rodgers has a decision to make, it seems. And it’s clear where Hall hopes his quarterback is playing in 2025.
