“We are dedicated to rescuing animals in need, providing care for them, and finding them loving homes.” Puppy Kitty NyCity is a non-profit organization that specializes in the TNR (trap, neuter, return) program for street cats and dogs, as well as rehabilitating and rehoming them.
According to a representative from the organization, “We currently have 250 animals under our care at all times, and last year alone, we were able to rescue nearly 900 animals.”
Their mission is to always be there for any needy animal and they put in a lot of effort to make sure they achieve this. One of the strategies they have in place is the “Barn Cat Program,” where they rehome wild cats to farms and sanctuaries. “Although most feral cats in New York can thrive outside, there are instances where it’s not safe to release them back to their original locations.” This led them to devise a new plan to assist these cats and the barn cat program turned out to be the ideal solution.
“We match up wild cats who don’t thrive in a domestic setting but are unsafe on the streets with farms or warehouses in need of barn/working cats. These cats get a safe haven, food, and water in exchange for aiding in pest control by keeping rodent populations in check! This innovative solution allows farms to naturally manage rodent populations without resorting to harmful chemicals or other methods.”
“We prefer to adopt our barn cats in pairs so they have a buddy to keep them company,” they explained to We Love Cats and Kittens. We fully support this great idea and believe it has truly improved the lives of many cats.
In the image displayed, we have Carla, who was saved from a perilous location in New York City during the winter season. After being moved to safety, she now resides happily among her horse companions on a permanent ranch in Massachusetts.
They also organize numerous adoption gatherings and are constantly seeking volunteers. If you reside close to Queens, New York and are interested in participating, you can reach out to them for more information.
They’ve also accomplished numerous successful rescue operations, most notably the heartwarming tale of the “Fruit Kittens.” The touching story unfolds with a stray cat mom being rescued just in time before the arrival of her adorable litter of kittens. It all started when dedicated volunteers from Puppy Kitty NYCity spotted the heavily pregnant tabby cat in a city park, knowing that it was crucial to act quickly as she was on the verge of giving birth.
They successfully captured the grey-striped cat and within twenty-four hours, she delivered a litter of five adorable kittens! It seemed like she had been holding out for the perfect individuals to provide her with a cozy and welcoming environment where she could receive the necessary care after giving birth.
The loving mother cat was lovingly dubbed Mama Tart by her rescuers, as she willingly took on an additional kitten in need of her nurturing care. The rescued kittens were given fruit-inspired names like Kiwi, Mango, Watermelon, Lemon, Tangerine, and Guava, affectionately known as the “Fruit Kittens”.
The kittens are in excellent health, with hearty appetites, and thriving wonderfully.
They are always bursting with excitement and enjoy playfully chasing one another, often found climbing up and down their beloved cat towers.
They also love participating in fashion shows, as they showed off some stylish and eye-catching outfits for Halloween!
They possess immese magic, yet all they require is a gentle heart to welcome them.
