Penelope and Kilo adore their mom and have always strived to occupy as much of her attention as possible. They both have big personalities and will always let their feelings be known, both the good and bad.
“Penelope is a very loving girl and incredibly needy when it comes to Mom’s loving,” Autumn McIntyre, the pair’s mom, told The Dodo. “She will do anything for my attention. Kilo is all snuggles! If you’re laying on the couch, so is he, directly on top of you. He is VERY vocal at any given point, no reason, he just loves to sing.”
When McIntyre found out she was pregnant, she had no idea how her cats would react — and they seemed to know right away that something was different.
“I noticed around my 10-week mark [that] they actually both became much more cuddly,” McIntyre said. “Penelope was never much of a snuggler until we were expecting, so I honestly think they can sense their little sister in there!”
McIntyre’s cats mean so much to her, so when she and her husband were contemplating how to tell the world they were expecting, they knew they wanted the cats to be included.
“My cats were my babies first, so I had to incorporate them into the announcement,” McIntyre said.
They decided to do a little photo shoot with the cats in front of a sign that said “You’re what?!” and a few other props to let people know there was a baby on the way. The cats had initially seemed excited about the pregnancy — but when it came time to share that excitement with the world, they had other thoughts entirely.
In the photos, the cats full-on look like they’re throwing a tantrum when finding out about their new baby sister. It’s such a funny pregnancy announcement, and the couple is thrilled with the results of the very chaotic photo shoot.
“The photos came out better than expected, honestly,” McIntyre said.
