After being ruled out for the remainder of the season on Monday following his devastating knee injury in Saturday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell posted on social media for the first time with a video on TikTok.
“When you want something so bad you got a different type of attachment to it…” the caption read.
Dell also spoke to former NFL receiver Chad Ochocinco, who revealed their text conversation on social media.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans announced on Monday that Dell suffered a dislocated knee that includes a torn ACL and other damage. He will undergo season-ending surgery.
Dell suffered the injury in the third quarter of Saturday’s game when he caught a touchdown pass from quarterback C.J. Stroud and fellow receiver Jared Wayne collided with his lower leg. His leg was placed in an air cast and he was carted off the field in an emotional scene. He produced a team-high 98 yards on six catches before the injury forced him out of the game, which Houston lost 27-19.
A third-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, Dell ends the year with a career-high 51 catches for 667 yards and three touchdowns. He was limited to 11 games in his rookie season after suffering a fractured fibula.
The Texans, who already won the AFC South, also lost star receiver Stefon Diggs to a torn ACL earlier in the year. Stroud will be relying heavily on wideout Nico Collins and tight end Dalton Schultz in the passing attack as Houston attempts to make a deeper run in its second straight trip to the postseason.
The Texans will begin getting used to life without Dell when they face the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day.
