Back in 2021, Meghan Markle publicly criticized King Charles and Queen Camilla during a televised interview with Oprah Winfrey, stating that they didn’t support her and Prince Harry.

When allegations arose that she made Kate Middleton cry over a disagreement about Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress, Meghan claimed she was “silenced” and not “protected” by the Royal Family.

In her conversation with Oprah, Meghan stated: “That was hard to reconcile because it was only once we were married and everything started to really worsen that I came to understand that not only was I not being protected, but that they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family.”

In a 13-word statement, Meghan further emphasized: “They weren’t willing to tell the truth to protect me and my husband.”

At the time, Meghan, who was heavily pregnant with their daughter, also claimed that a family member had expressed concerns about their son’s skin tone before his birth in 2019. Moreover, she hinted that the severe public scrutiny had a profound impact on her mental health, leading to suicidal thoughts.

Speaking on behalf of his wife, Harry revealed that “no one from my family ever said anything” about the racist treatment Meghan received from the press, adding, “and that hurts,” reports the Express.

In the 2021 interview, Harry also mentioned that none of his family members had reached out to make amends when discussing the possibility of reconciliation with the royals. The couple had taken a step back from their Royal duties a year before their explosive interview with Oprah.

Meghan and Harry, who are still largely distanced from the Royal family, now live in California with their five year old son Archie and three-year-old daughter Lilibet.
