Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders achieved no shortage of success both on the gridiron and in the classroom.
Over 12 games this season, Sanders completed 337-of-454 passes for 3,926 yards, 35 touchdowns and eight interceptions en route to positioning himself as one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 draft class. NFL teams interested in acquiring his talents come April will be pleased to hear that the signal-caller additionally excels in school.
According to Athlon Sports, Sanders boasted a 3.9 GPA while attending Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas – the same high school where his father, Deion, served as offensive coordinator. ‘Prime Time’ confirmed just as much while speaking to CBS Sports in 2018, stating: “Shedeur is a leader, Shedeur works man, studies. Kid has a 3.9 GPA. He wants it.”

Upon graduating from Trinity Christian School, however, Sanders has opted to take the large majority of his college courses at Jackson State and Colorado online. While the decision to avoid in-person classes is now common amongst many student athletes across the nation, Deion argued that his son was missing out on several of the best experiences that attending a university has to offer.
“It’s so different now,” Deion said while appearing on the ‘Bret Boone Podcast’ back in January. “Most of the schooling is online. They go to classes and I’m like, ‘You guys are missing the best part of college to walk around and be on campus and build an atmosphere and build relationships on campus with other students outside of football. That’s the best part of it.’”
Addressing his son’s current schooling, Deion conceded that he wasn’t sure whether or not Shedeur has ever attended an in-person class either at Colorado or Jackson State. “But now you have so many kids that are just online,” he added. “I don’t even know if Shedeur has ever taken a class on campus in his college career.”

To his credit, Sanders recorded his experience attending an in-person lecture for the first time at Colorado back in April. In a short clip posted to his YouTube page, the 22-year-old can be seen sneaking into a Chemistry lecture and even discussing the answer to an in-class concept test with another student.
Shortly after walking out of the lecture hall, Sanders asked: “Do you know how long it’s been since I’ve been to one in-person class?”
He appeared to enjoy the experience overall, adding: “Chemistry class was fun, bro. You tryna go to class on campus now?”
Sanders’ present focus is not on the books, however, but instead on taking the next step in his football career. Deion, for one, is confident that his son will fly off the NFL Draft board in no time, stating “Shedeur is going to be the No. 1 pick” should the New York Giants possess the first overall selection.
