Alayna Finau, wife of golfer Tony Finau, has addressed the rumors about her husband’s potential move to LIV Golf. The speculation has been rife since Tony, 35, withdrew from Tiger Woods’ upcoming Hero World Challenge event.
Finau has been tipped to join the Saudi-backed circuit, particularly as his close friend Jon Rahm is already a part of Legion XIII team. The rumor mill went into overdrive on Monday when it was announced that Tony had pulled out of the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas and would be replaced by Sepp Straka.
The tournament, hosted by golfing great Woods, runs from December 5 to December 8 at Albany and will feature several top PGA Tour names including Scottie Scheffler, Keegan Bradley, and Jason Day. Following Tony’s withdrawal, Alayna took to TikTok to share a brief video where she expressed her desire for no “more drama”.

In the video, Alayna is seen mouthing a voiceover saying: “My life is complicated enough-the last thing I need is more drama.” The camera then shifts to a shirtless Tony by the pool, smiling and flashing the hang loose sign, as the voiceover continues: “Hello drama.”
Finau was last seen in action at the Presidents Cup in September, where he finished with a 2-2-0 scoreline and helped Team USA secure the trophy in Montreal, Canada.
He has been making headlines not just for his game but also for his potential shift in allegiance from the PGA Tour to the lucrative LIV Golf series. This isn’t the first time he’s withdrawn from a tournament; back in October, he skipped the Black Desert Championship to focus on coaching his son.

With a vacancy in Legion XIII team after Kieran Vincent lost his card, Finau’s move could spark a bidding war among teams eager for his skills. Unlike some of his PGA peers who have openly criticized the Saudi-backed LIV Golf, Finau has remained notably neutral, even voicing support for his good friend Rahm’s switch to LIV.
In a chat with Sports Illustrated following Rahm’s transition, Finau remarked: “I’m happy for Jon. He made the best decision he felt was right for his family and himself. I’m happy for him.”
Since joining the PGA Tour in 2013, Finau has claimed six titles, including his first at the Puerto Rico Open in 2016, with his most recent win at the 2023 Mexico Open. Despite a solid record, major championships have eluded him, with top finishes being T5 at the 2019 Masters, T4 at the 2024 PGA Championship, T3 at this year’s US Open, and third at the 2019 Open Championship.
