A.J. Brown was very clear on who believes is the best player in the world: Saquon Barkley.Barkley and Brown are teammates for the first time, with the former joining the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency on a three-year, $37.5 million contract while the latter was traded in 2022 for the 18th overall pick in that year’s draft. Before being traded to Philadelphia, Brown spent time with the Tennessee Titans, playing alongside Derrick Henry.Having played with two great running backs, most players in Brown’s position would have difficulty choosing between Barkley and Henry. However, the star wideout declared that Barkley was the best player in the world after watching how talented he was first hand.Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are impacted by three strict Kansas City Chiefs rulesShedeur Sanders drops huge hint at NFL future after Daniel Jones release from GiantsBefore the Eagles matchup with the Rams in Los Angeles, Brown sat down with three-time Super Bowl champion Devin McCourty, stating: “I think so, I think he’s the best in the world. And I love Derrick, you don’t understand. I think he’s the best in the world, man.”The 27-year-old star also admitted that he originally thought Henry was the best running back he played with during a conversation with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni. Once Barkley hurdled backwards over a defender, Brown quickly changed his tune regarding his running back rankings.”I’ll tell you this – I literally told Nick probably a couple weeks ago and I said, ‘Right now, I still think Derrick is probably the best running back I ever played with,” Brown continued. “And then [Barkley] jumps over somebody backwards. And I’m like, yeah, I had to rethink it, man.Saquon Barkley is the best in the world, according to Philadelphia Eagles star receiver A.J. Brown ( Image: Photo by Ric Tapia/Getty Images)”I mean, he’s incredible, man. He’s definitely touched by God, man. He works hard. And I had to give him that nod, man. Both are really good. I can’t wait. I’m not trying to look past right now, but next week is going to be a show. I just want to see it.”For Brown to claim Barkley is the best in the league makes sense. Before the Eagles’ matchup with the Rams, Barkley rushed for 1,137 yards, the second most in the NFL behind Henry’s 1,185, and his eight touchdowns were tied for sixth, while the Baltimore Ravens star was first with 13 touchdowns. This is not the first time Brown has lauded Barkley’s ability. Speaking to reporters in early November, the star wideout explained how his life was made easier with the running back as another available offensive option for star quarterback Jalen Hurts to turn to when needed.”[Saquon’s] already a super human, as we like to call him,” he said at the time, per CBS Sports. “So you have to account for him. At any moment, he can change the game, and the defense has to account for that. So sometimes they load the box, and we get favorable matchups, and we just gotta take advantage when we get those favorable matchups.”Against the Rams, Barkley further solidified his case as the most valuable player in the league. The 27-year-old rushed for 255 yards – a new team record – on 26 carries with two touchdowns in Los Angeles.
