MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian has clapped back at allegations saying the headline-grabbing fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson on Friday was a setup.

There was massive anticipation for the bout, only for fans to witness a letdown, leading watchers at the AT&T Stadium to head for the exits before the winner was even declared. Although the heavyweight matchup proved to be less than thrilling, the audience was left impressed by the undercard battle that saw Katie Taylor square off with Amanda Serrano.

‘The Problem Child’ emerged victorious over the veteran boxer in Texas through a unanimous decision, despite not managing any impressive hits. Post-fight, Paul faced up to his shortcomings, expressing: “I’m sorry I didn’t knock him out.”

His companions on his YouTube channel argued he deferred delivering a knockout punch out of reverence for Tyson. Paul added: “After I’d seen him tired I didn’t want to put too much hurt on him, but I wanted the fans to get a good experience. But there was a point where my aggression and violence went away when I wasn’t getting hit. I love Mike.”

Tyson’s age was evident as the ex-world champion struggled to land a punch. Following the match, Dallas Cowboys icon Michael Irvin suggested that the fight was fixed due to a hidden contract clause. “I was looking for that patent ‘one in the body, one on the uppercut,” the 58-year-old former NFL player began explaining on ‘The Herd’.

“When he hits that it’s boom boom, boom. I want to see that. But we didn’t get that, not a one. And I saw someone else say that it was in the contract – “no uppercuts.” They had it in the contract. Come on guys, why wouldn’t Mike Tyson throw an uppercut?”

Irvin’s remarks were not well received by MVP boss, Bidarian. On ‘The Ariel Helwani Show’, he responded: “I’m concerned that there’s a CTE problem there for Michael Irvin. How would you see the contract, to begin with, that Mike Tyson couldn’t throw an uppercut?

“It’s just beyond lunacy and the realm of reality of life. This was a regulated professional bout by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. And we were partners with Netflix, the biggest media company in the world, who’s a public company. For anyone to suggest that this was in any way a rigged fight, they’re either dumb or they’re looking for attention.”

Controversy swirls around Paul once more following accusations of fixing fights and leaked ‘scripts’ outlining his ring walk. Previous allegations emerged before his highly anticipated match with Tommy Fury last year, when an apparent script shared by Mike Perry detailed how the event would unfold.

Although the document made audacious predictions, including Paul entering the ring in a baby outfit and fighters incurring injuries, promoters were quick to dismiss it as fiction. They clarified: “We can confirm, it’s fake.”

The alleged script even went so far as to foreshadow a severe eye injury for Fury and a triumphant TKO victory for ‘The Problem Child’ in the eighth round. “I get it. Putting out posts, ‘Oh, proof it was rigged,’ that gets you good engagement,” Bidarian added. People say outlandish things to bring awareness to themselves, but it’s a sad state of society that that’s where people want to spend their time.”
