Kirk Herbstreit summed up the mess NFL franchise Dallas Cowboys find themselves by calling them “a train wreck” in high-profile games.
The Cowboys are in dire straits this season, winning only once since the start of October, losing several key players to injury like Dak Prescott, Trevon Diggs, and more, and have struggling with their playing identity.
On November 18, the Cowboys welcome the Houston Texans to the AT&T Stadium in Arlington for a ‘Monday Night Football’ match on ESPN. And, on Saturday, ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ analyst Kirk Herbstreit did not hold back during a promo for the upcoming game. “Just keep putting Dallas in those high-profile windows,” the 55-year-old said. “They just keep losing games. That is a train wreck – a train wreck.”
Even when the Cowboys aren’t playing, they still find themselves the butt of jokes right now as Friday’s big boxing bout between returning icon Mike Tyson, and internet sensation Jake Paul, was held at the AT&T Stadium.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones even joined the Netflix broadcast. But the way he talked about Netflix attracted jokes from Barstool Sports media mogul Dave Portnoy because it sounded like Jones had only just heard about the $350 billion publicly-listed company. “We’re all being introduced to Netflix,” said Jones while in the booth. “We’re so excited in the NFL about Netflix becoming a huge part of our future.”
Jones them remarked about the streaming figures expected for the Tyson-Paul boxing show, and appeared enthusiastic about the future — one in which Netflix will air two NFL games on Christmas Day; the Kansas City Chiefs against Pittsburgh Steelers, followed by Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans.

“Jerry Jones is very excited that he and the world is being introduced to this new little company called Netflix,” Portnoy wrote on X.
Another user on X pointed out the irony that the partnership may not have gotten off to the greatest of starts as Jones talked into a mic that did not work properly, before streaming issues appeared to affect Netflix users worldwide — many of whom were unable to watch critical moments of a Fight of the Year contender between women’s boxing greats Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
Following their ‘Monday Night Football’ game against the Texans, the Cowboys take on Washington Commanders on Sunday, November 24 before an end-of-month game against the New York Giants.
