The FBI has joined the investigation into the burglaries of the homes of Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.
TMZ reported that the FBI has been assisting the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the agency investigating the Mahomes break-in, and the Leawood Police Department, which is probing the Kelce burglary.
A source told the outlet that the FBI’s involvement in the burglaries would lend credence to the idea that the crimes could involve “organized crime crossing state lines.”
The Bureau is also said to be looking into break-ins at homes in nearby neighborhoods, which would track with a previous report that burglaries of Mahomes and Kelce’s homes were part of a bigger spree.
An FBI spokesperson would not confirm or deny the agency’s participation in the investigations.
when the two Chiefs stars had their homes broken into.
Mahomes’ mansion was burglarized around midnight on Oct. 6 and Kelce’s estate was broken into around 7:33 p.m. on Oct. 7 shortly after the kick-off of “Monday Night Football,” TMZ reported.
According to a police report, $20,000 cash was taken from Kelce’s home and a source told the outlet that Kelce and his pop icon girlfriend Taylor Swift, who had been in town for that night’s Chiefs’ game, stayed at a downtown Kansas City hotel, with Swift’s security team taking the incident very seriously.
