The woman accusing Conor McGregor of rape had an ‘intense level of bruising’, a jury heard on Tuesday, with a paramedic who tended to the individual testifying.
Advanced paramedic Eithne Scully has been giving evidence in the second week of the trial, with civil action taken by Nikita Hand, who has accused McGregor and the Irishman’s co-defendant, James Lawrence of rape. Both McGregor and Lawrence have vehemently denied Hand’s claims.
Scully told the court that the victim was ‘withdrawn, agitated and upset’ when she had first saw her in December 2018, and noted injuries including a cut on her chin and bruising on her neck, chest, buttocks and all around her legs.

Scully said of her injuries: “I haven’t seen someone so bruised, with that intensity of bruising”.
McGregor’s lawyer, Remy Farrell SC, had challenged the woman’s account of events in the first week of court proceedings, accusing her of falsifying information whilst “spinning a web of lies”.
Farrell questioned Hand about statements she made to her then-partner about being in a taxi with a friend after leaving the Beacon Hotel. Hand had confessed that this was false as she had been alone in the taxi, and explained that she made the comment to reassure her ex-partner that she was safe.
Farrell had then suggested that the falsehoods she told her partner were “part of a web of lies you were weaving”.

Hand has alleged that McGregor assaulted her before he allegedly raped her. During cross-examination by McGregor’s defense another parademic stated that Hand “said she could hardly remember but she was raped.”
A witness, a friend of the claimant, told the jury: “She said to Conor’s friend, ‘Do you turn a blind eye for what he does to women?’. Then she said to the driver she wants to go home. He asked her, ‘Does Conor want you to leave?’. She ran off. She ended up getting into a taxi. She then went to her sister-in-law, didn’t get an answer so she went to my house.
“She told me she did have a tampon in. And that she thinks it’s inside her. She was crying over that. She had said, ‘What am I going to do?’. I said you probably have to go rape crisis centre and if you do go there, it’s probably best not to have a shower.
“She had taken off her coat when she first came in and I saw the bruise on her arms. I helped her take off the jumpsuit and noticed bruised right breast with a scrape on it. She had a bruise on her knee I think, bruise on her knuckle, scrape on her jaw, red mark on her neck.”
