Revenge, they say, is a dish best served cold. For Mike Williams, though, it’s a post best served on Instagram.

The clap-back had to do with an old quote of New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers who, in October, bemoaned his wide receivers following a narrow 23-20 loss to Buffalo Bills on October 14. It was at that time when Williams was a teammate of Rodgers’, and felt his wrath as the 40-year-old threw him under the bus, weeks before the Jets traded Williams to Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

“There’s two verticals, Allen [Lazard’s] down the seam and Mike [Williams is] down the redline,” Rodgers told reporters, breaking down an interception that ended the game after a throw intended for Williams.

“So I’m throwing a no-look to the redline. When I peak my eyes back there Mike’s running an ‘in-breaker’ gotta be down the redline,” he added, in a statement that Williams has seemingly not forgotten.

Williams only joined the Steelers this month but is already making key contributions, catching a touchdown pass in a critical 28-27 win over Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium in Maryland. Had it not been for Williams, The Black and Gold would likely have returned to West Pennsylvania with a loss, as his catch was the game-winner.

On the same day, Rodgers and the Jets fell to 3-7 with an embarrassing 31-6 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals. The following day, Williams couldn’t help but rub salt in the wounds on social media with a not-so-subtle dig at Rodgers as he posted photographs of his winning moment.

His caption only read “thankful,” but it was his selection of hashtags that raised eyebrows. There was a “Whole Lotta,” a “We Back” and then, of course, the dig at the Jets star: “Red line.”

Though it was a debut to remember for Williams, he likely won’t want to rest on his laurels as the Steelers — who are now riding a four-match winning run — have critical games ahead, including Baltimore Ravens on November 17, a trip to Cleveland Browns on November 21, and Cincinnati Bengals on December 1.

The Jets, meanwhilw, have a less congested slate of matches as they welcome Indianapolis Colts to MetLife Stadium on November 17 before Seattle Seahawks, again in New Jersey, on December 1.
