Aaron Rodgers’ dig at LeBron James resurfaced on social media in the aftermath of the 2024 Presidential Election.
Many celebrities and athletes gave their endorsements for either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump ahead of the election, with James openly endorsing Harris. On the other hand, while Rodgers is registered to vote in New Jersey, he did not indicate who he voted for.
That said, Rodgers was one of the figures Robert F. Kennedy Jr. considered to be his running mate before dropping out of the presidential race altogether. At one point, multiple videos spread on social media of Rodgers and Kennedy getting close together, all but confirming that the four-time MVP endorsed Kennedy.

When the smoke cleared and Trump was declared the 47th President of the United States, Rodgers’ comments during an appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ began to recirculate on social media. In the clip, Rodgers and the McAfee crew discussed the NFL’s trade deadline, with Rodgers joking that the best advice came from celebrities.
“My favorite is when a celebrity says, ‘I’m moving if this doesn’t happen.’ OK, alright. Where you headed? Canada?” McAfee chimed in. After hearing McAfee’s retort, Rodgers sarcastically gave his favorite type of endorsement, seemingly aimed at James.
“My favorite is when the celebrity is bought and paid for by China,” Rodgers said before signing off from the show. The 40-year-old’s comments call to mind when James elected to remain mum after former Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey spoke out in support of the 2019-20 protests in Hong Kong.

In response to Morey’s post, the Chinese Basketball Association suspended its relationship with the Rockets, all Houston gear was pulled off shelves and the team’s games no longer were streamed in the country. China also punished the NBA by canceling league events in the country and terminated sponsorship deals with the league.
When James was asked about Morey’s posts, the NBA legend took a more mild-mannered approach to his responses. “I think it’s a very delicate situation, very sensitive situation and for me personally… when I speak about something, I’ll speak about something I’m very knowledgeable about, something that hits home for me, something I’m very passionate about,” James said at the time.
“I felt like with this particular situation, it was something not only was I not informed enough about, I just felt like it was something that not only myself and my teammates, the organization, had enough information to even talk about it at that point in time. And we still feel the same way.”
